We at the Sheffield Institute for International Development are looking to recruit a 2-year GCRF Capacity-Building/Training Officer to work with us on an offline and online training programme to prepare more Sheffield academics for research on global challenges, undertaken in equitable partnerships with Southern partners and inspired by culturally diverse ways of understanding our world and its challenges. We are looking for a dynamic, creative colleague with expertise in learning and training and who is familiar with digital educational tools and platforms (including MOOCs). Some of the work will be carried out on campus in Sheffield, while there are some opportunities for remote working.

The requirements of the job are, primarily, to design, develop and execute, in close collaboration with the SIID Deputy Director (Prof Dorothea Kleine), a professional development programme based on a blended, offline and online approach and framed by SIID’s interest in intercultural exchange, diverse knowledges and decolonial thinking. The Training Officer will collect resources, record thought-leaders from the global South and North, and curate an online resource collection. Furthermore, they will coordinate workshops and visits from different speakers, as well as liaise with other event organisers. We are seeking a colleague who will share and represent our ethos of cross-cultural respect and commitment to impact. Applicants should have a good undergraduate degree and a postgraduate qualification (or equivalent experience), ideally related to either international development or education, as well as demonstrable expertise in delivering training programmes.

At SIID we celebrate diversity and we particularly encourage applications from members of groups that are currently underrepresented in UK higher education.
