Professor Kate Pahl

Kate Pahl has a background in outreach adult literacy and is interested in everyday literacy practices in communities. Her research has been funded by AHRC and ESRC and is concerned with everyday writing, language in schools and communities, community cohesion and hope, with a focus on co-produced research. She is particularly interested in arts methodologies for working in community contexts. She is currently Principle Investigator of a large grant called ‘Imagine’ which is looking at the social, historical, cultural and democratic context of civic engagement, funded through the Connected Communities programme. She is the author of ‘Materialising Literacies in Communities’ (2014) London; Bloomsbury.
