Back to staff list

Justa Hopma works as a research fellow on the Global Food Justice project at Sheffield University’s Department of Politics. Her role is to shed light upon how civil society and activists in the global North and South are resisting injustices relating to the environmental and social impacts of food systems. Her work seeks to connect theories of justice to ethical practice by focusing on the voices of Bolivian and Chilean women who are active in agro-ecology.

Previous research focused on discourses and practices of food security and food sovereignty with a focus on the Arab region; the emergence of conflict between conservation agencies and Bedouin constituencies in Jordan; participatory crop assessment (wheat) in the West Bank; and policy-oriented research into Jordanian agricultural investments in Sudan.
