Dr Niraj Kumar is a Lecturer in Operations and Supply Chain Management at the Management School of the University of Sheffield. He has a PhD from the University of Bath School of Management, and an MPhil in Industrial and Manufacturing Systems Engineering from the University of Hong Kong. He holds the “Gold medal” for being the “overall topper” in his University during his undergraduate study. His research work primarily lies at the interface of Engineering and Social Sciences faculty, with particular interests in Sustainability, Food supply chain, Humanitarian Supply Chain, and Supply chain risks and resilience. In terms of methodological expertise, He has developed and implemented mixed research methodologies combining case study, survey research and different decision support tools. He has worked on a number of projects in collaboration with public, private and third sectors in both developing and developed countries. Dr Kumar is a key member of the Logistics and Supply Chain Management (LSCM) Research Centre and the Centre for Energy, Environment and Sustainability (CEES), both inter-disciplinary research centers at the University of Sheffield.
He has a very strong publication record, and has published over 50 research papers in leading international journals and conferences. Being a reviewer for a number of leading journals in operations and supply chain management field for many years, he has joined the editorial board of the International Journal of Supply Chain and Operations Resilience (IJSCOR), International Journal of Risk & Contingency Management (IJRCM), and International Journal of Network and Mobile Technology (IJNMT). He has also served in the scientific committees of many reputed international conferences worldwide, organised by European Operations Management Association (EurOMA), Industrial Engineering and Operations Management (IEOM) Association, and European Decision Sciences Institute (EDSI).
