Dr. Emanuela Girei

Emanuela is a Lecturer at the Management School. She holds a Ph.D in Development Policy and Management from the University of Manchester (UK). Prior to her doctorate, she earned a degree in Work Psychology at the University of Cagliari (Italy), and a Master’s in Industrial Relations at the University of Bologna (Italy).

Her main area of interest is management and social change, looking specifically at whether and how management theory and practice can contribute to making organisations, institutions and societies more just, equitable and sustainable. She is currently doing research on a social movement opposing a coal project in South Asia. Previously, she did research on NGOs in Uganda, looking specifically at how mainstream management policies and practices have shaped the role and contribution of NGOs to the country’s social and economic development.
She is also interested in researching about qualitative and critical research methodologies.
