Baris Alpaslan is an Assistant Professor of Economics at Social Sciences University of Ankara Department of Economics. Dr. Alpaslan has also been serving as a Vice Dean at the Faculty of Political Science. Prior to this post, Dr. Alpaslan was a faculty member at Ankara Yildirim Beyazit University Department of Public Finance. Dr. Alpaslan completed his MSc (Econ) on which he received an award of distinction at the University of Manchester, and holds a PhD (Econ) from the same university. Dr. Alpaslan is also a research associate at the Global Development Institute (GDI), University of Manchester and Centre for Applied Macroeconomic Analysis (CAMA), Australian National University as well as Economic Research Forum (ERF) in Cairo, Egypt. Dr. Alpaslan is also serving on an expert committee for the 2030 agenda for Sustainable Development Goals at the Turkish National Commission for UNESCO. His research interests focus broadly on the macroeconomics of growth, inequality and development.
