SIID has allocated over £115k to seven new research projects across the University of Sheffield. These include posts for two new post-doctoral research fellows; diverse research networks with partners in Europe, Africa, Latin America, North America and Asia, and new proof-of-concept research projects.

This funding is in response to a call for seedcorn projects that will stimulate larger interdisciplinary research projects, both within the University and internationally. Dan Brockington, the SIID Director, said “We instituted this call at relatively short notice, and the response was extremely strong. The committee’s task in allocating these funds was not easy”.

Bids were reviewed by the SIID Management Team in early November 2015, and work on the resulting projects has already started – look out for news of them on the blog.

There will be a second call for seedcorn funding proposals in the Spring of 2016.
