Together with colleagues at the University of Reading, the University of Illinois and Ahmadu Bello University, Dr Adeniyi Asiyanbi is running a researcher-practitioner workshop on ‘Impacts, imperatives and emergent governance of REDD+’ with a focus on Africa. The event brings together academics and practitioners including African partners to critically reflect on the impacts of REDD+ and emergent governance of the scheme at the intersection poor performance and new imperatives including the Paris Agreements, the SDGs and extreme nationalism.

Some of the speakers include Chuks Okereke (University of Reading), James Murombedzi (UNECA) Simon Counsell (Rainforest Foundation UK), Mike Riddell (University of Edinburgh), Edu Effiom (State REDD+ Coordinator, Cross River – Nigeria), Moumini Savadogo (IUCN, Burkina Faso) and Nouhou Ndam (WABiCC, Sierra Leone).
