The Sheffield Institute for International Development (SIID) and the Sheffield Political Economy Research Institute (SPERI), University of Sheffield, are pleased to welcome Oxfam GB’s Duncan Green to launch his forthcoming new book, ‘How Change Happens‘, as part of SIID in the Spotlight week.
The talk takes place on Monday 31st October 2016: more information can be found on our events page.
Duncan will introduce his book and provide an opportunity for the audience to challenge, engage and add their own perspectives. ‘How Change Happens’ explores how political and social change takes place, and the role of individuals and organizations in influencing that change. He discusses the challenges that ‘systems thinking’ creates for traditional activism and aid, and how a ‘power and systems approach’ requires activists, whether in campaigns, companies or governments, to fundamentally rethink the way they understand the world and try to influence it.
Duncan Green is Oxfam GB’s Senior Strategic Adviser. He also teaches on international development at the London School of Economics, where he is a Professor in Practice. His blog is one of the most widely read on international development, and is named after his book “From Poverty to Power”.
Signed copies of Duncan’s book will be available to purchase on the night, priced at £10. We accept cash and card payments.
