We’re happy to announce the first call for papers and participation in our SIID 7th Annual Postgraduate Conference, to be held on the 7th and 8th April 2016. This one and a half-day event is geared at providing a supportive academic atmosphere that will facilitate the sharing of current postgraduate research in areas related to International Development. We are keen to hear both academic and practitioner-based research perspectives.
The theme for this year’s Conference is “Emerging Challenges facing Development and Development Studies”. Accordingly, we are looking for papers to engage with theoretical, methodological and practical issues in International Development through a variety of themes, which include but are not limited to:
- Urban geography
- Participation and Empowerment
- Climate Change
- Governance and Institutions
- Global Health
- Techcnology and Development
- Education and Childhood
- Humanitarian Assistance
This year’s conference will be giving out exciting awards for the best participants. The best paper will have an opportunity to be published in international journals International Development Planning Review (IDPR) and Conservation & Society, subject to appropriateness and peer-review process but supported by SIID staff and journal editors. Up to 10 awards of£100 each will be given to stand out participants who can deliver their paper in an articulate and interesting manner. A small number of travel and accommodation bursaries are also available, further details will be circulated in January.
