We wish to appoint two post-doctoral research fellows to the Sheffield Institute for International Development. Each post is for two years. We are looking for dynamic, energetic researchers in international development, who have been awarded a PhD since September 2013 and whose prime motivation is to do world class impactful research.

Successful applicants will be free to join any department within the University and to collaborate with any colleagues across the rich and diverse SIID fellowship. They will join a growing network of post-doctoral researchers based here.

The requirements of the job are, primarily, to complete a research project of the applicant’ own design, publish and apply for further funding opportunities. The post-holders will also take on aspects of SIID’s social media work and organise activities (reading groups, meetings, workshops and seminar series as appropriate) within the research themes.

The most important criterion for appointment is excellence. We want to appoint researchers who will become world-leading academics. Therefore we encourage applications from researchers with innovative and important research agendas in any field of international development. We will particularly welcome applicants who fit well with three of SIID’s research themes: (a) Health, (b) Governance and Advocacy and (c) Digital Technologies, Data and Innovation.

Applicants should submit a CV, a letter explaining your interest in the position (no more than 2 pages) and a two page research proposal (not including the bibliography) that can be completed in two years. Reference letters will be requested for shortlisted candidates.
